Taking Stock: September 2017

September! The start of Spring and the start of me coming out of hibernation. With the warmer weather and the abundance of flowers blooming everywhere, it just felt damn nice to be outside. I enjoyed attending little festivals here and there, plus started going on after-work walks as part of ‘Steptember’. Of course, semester two of post-grad was well under way so I spent a good portion of time holed up inside working on getting a passing grade. I sadly lost a lot of photos so don’t have much of them to share this month, but from what I can remember there were a lot of lovely every day moments.

Making: a papery mess on my computer desk as I attempt to write my Uni assignment.

Cooking: lunches for work as usual.

Reading: lots of book chapters and journal articles for my Uni assignment and totally stressing out about it!

Playing: (still) ‘Lay It On Me‘ by Vance Joy and ‘The Cure‘ by Lady Gaga.

Enjoying: after work walks in the balmy afternoon sun, after work drinks and dinners.

Sorting: through book chapters and journal articles for post-grad.

Wondering: if I’ll ever get through Uni at this rate…

Waiting: a bit too long before sowing seeds for the veggie garden.

Deciding: to take part in Steptember and realising just how few steps I take a day.

Wishing: that my brain was better so that I wouldn’t struggle so much with my Uni assignment.

Liking: going to the Hong Kong 20 Fun Fun Carnival and to Cabramatta Moon Festival.

Disliking: that I lost a lot of my photos because my phone decided to go into reboot loop hell.

Considering: ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Watching: the movie ‘The Prestige’.

Marvelling: at the vegetable garden that Super Boy and I stumbled upon in Parramatta Park during our walk. It was like a secret and magical find!

Wanting: more raised garden beds!

Needing: to wash my beloved Chiswick (car). He looks so brand-spanking-new!

Following: well-worn paths around Parramatta Park and Wisteria Gardens.

Noticing: the beautiful blooming wisteria.

Knowing: I should be putting in a bit more effort into my studies and my garden.

Thinking: about the lecture I attended as part of Dementia Awareness Month and how it’s important to remember that people with dementia are still capable of creating and storing new memories.

Buying: a new phone since my one crapped out on me. Also bought some textbooks on narrative therapy and doughnuts. I love doughnuts.

Getting: excited about planting seeds for purple dwarf beans. It’s the first time I’ll be growing purple beans and I can’t wait to see them grow!

Admiring: the beautiful albino wallaby I spotted at Auburn Botanic Gardens.

Hoping: to pass my first Uni assignment of the second semester.

Loving: the day out at Elizabeth Farm for the Spring Harvest Festival.

Giggling: with The Bestie as we play games (returning to ‘League of Legends’ and trying out ‘Fortnite’).

Planning: what to grow for our Spring and Summer food garden.

Feeling: overwhelmed by Uni and all the things I want to do, but also hopeful about all the possibilities that lie ahead (damn that sounds cheesy).

{I started ‘taking stock’ after seeing it over on Meet Me At Mike’s. You can check out the original ‘taking stock’ to find a list or see what others are up to. Let me know if you decide to join in. I’d love to know how your month has been.}
