Taking Stock: July 2017

Yep, I am really late with this one. As I’ve said, I left the blogosphere for a while, but I’m back and determined to catch up on the stuff I’ve not read and the stuff I’ve been wanting to share. So here we are with what I can remember for my first ‘Taking Stock’ post in a while.

July was a great month for me. I was on a mid-year break from Uni and thoroughly enjoyed not sitting in traffic to and from class. I attended a few farewell drinks for work and a few awesome events around town. I donated plasma for the very first time and I obsessed over my Winter vegetable garden. Overall, it was a great month for me. I’m hoping it was a great month for you too.

Making: a little progress with my knitted blanket.

Cooking: a grilled vegetable lasagne. It was surprisingly really tasty for my first-ever attempt, but damn it took a while to make.

Reading: nothing at all.

Playing: all of the Calvin Harris! ‘Feels‘ feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, ‘Heat Stroke‘ feat. Young Thug, Pharrell Williams and Ariana Grande and ‘Slide’ feat. Frank Ocean and Migos.

Enjoying: a stroll around Circular Quay and through the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, seeing the ‘All About Flowers’ display at The Calyx, and having high tea there as well. Also glad The Parents enjoyed it too.

Sorting: out my indoor house plants. They were in dire need of a tidy-up.

Wondering: where to put all of the air plants that Super Boy shared with me.

Waiting: impatiently for veggies from my beloved Winter vegetable garden. The broccoli and snow pea plants are growing, and I can see a few snow pea flowers and a tiny broccoli taking shape. The Chinese cabbage seedlings seems to be doing well so far too.

Deciding: to donate plasma for the first time and feeling pretty good about it.

Wishing: that I didn’t eat a whole pizza for lunch by myself because I couldn’t eat dinner out with friends that night. Sad face.

Liking: the stroll through Parramatta Winterlight. Didn’t go on any rides this year though.

Disliking: having to wait way too long for a simple hair cut. I love the hairdresser because they’re great and they did an amazing job when I chopped most of my hair off, but the ridiculous 2 hour wait (even with an appointment) seems unforgivable.

Considering: making regular plasma and blood donations.

Watching: the Master Chef finale with Mum, and Wimbledon with The Bestie (yay! Federer!).

Marvelling: at the beautiful floral display ‘All About Flowers’ at The Calyx at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Wanting: to go on a bushwalk, but actually didn’t plan anything.

Needing: to get all my paperwork in order to do my taxes. Blergh.

Following: a very basic yoga routine 3 times a week for the month (but then promptly didn’t continue this the next month. Oops).

Noticing: the grasshopper that has been eating all of my basil leaves and how fast it can jump.

Knowing: I’m not doing much to achieve my goals for the year.

Thinking: about buying a heater for the house because Winter feels so much colder this year. It’s not just me, right?

Buying: the Lego set ‘Assembly Square’ and building it over a few nights at The Bestie’s place while he built his Lego. Oh man, it looks awesome!

Getting: so excited to be building Lego again! It’s been such a long time and I’m so out of practice.

Admiring: a work colleague who was part of the Cumberland Gang Show performance that we saw at the Riverside Theatre.

Hoping: I’ll be able to grow some delicious Winter produce.

Loving: my night out at Jurrasic Lounge’s Robots vs Dinosaurs event. Jurrasic Lounge are putting on a Halloween event and I highly recommend going if you can!

Giggling: at myself and how silly I must look dancing away at the silent disco. It was sooo much fun though!

Planning: to learn about bees and to do more for the garden.

Feeling: happy and thankful for being able to enjoy such a wonderful month.

{I started ‘taking stock’ after seeing it over on Meet Me At Mike’s. You can check out the original ‘taking stock’ to find a list or see what others are up to. Let me know if you decide to join in. I’d love to know how your month has been.}
