Taking Stock: April 2017

I am terribly behind with this ‘Taking Stock’ post. Between work and uni, and trying to get out of the house and my addiction to Heroes of the Storm (not gonna lie, I’m hooked), blogging has taken a back seat. I feel bad for not posting anything regularly, but then I remind myself that this is really just a place for my memories. I was actually just reading some old posts about a weekend getaway and remembered how much fun I had. That’s what this space is for. Anyway, with all that said, here’s how April turned out for me.

Making: nothing this month (again).

Cooking: roast lamb racks (one with salt and pepper and one with dukkah) with roast veges and mushroom gravy. It was pretty damn tasty if I do say so myself.

Reading: journal articles and books for postgraduate work.

Playing: ‘Slide’ by Calvin Harris feat Frank Ocean and Migos, ‘Something Just Like This‘ by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay and ‘Paris‘ by The Chainsmokers (still). I’ve also been continuing through ‘The Awkward Human Survival Guide‘ podcast, and have started ‘The Guilty Feminist‘ podcast too.

Enjoying: a day out at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Sorting: out the front garden by hacking away at the plants in an attempt to prune them into reasonable shape. It’s not looking great if I’m honest.

Wondering: why I’ve had headaches for four consecutive days for no apparent reason.

Waiting: for seeds to grow. I planted some broccoli, pak choi, snow peas and daikon.

Deciding: to finally get some soil and compost and prepare the vegetable gardens.

Wishing: that my brain would function better.

Liking: that my Dad built a trellis for the Japanese wisteria to climb on so that it will (hopefully) grow into a beautiful green wall. Yay!

Disliking: that the strap on my fitness tracker broke.

Considering: buying another fitness tracker, but not really sure I can justify it right now.

Watching: The Bestie play ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’. It’s such a good game!

Marvelling: at the busy bees in my garden. I’ve been watching them closely and noticed that they carry the pollen on their hind legs. They also look super cute sticking their faces into the basil flowers.

Wanting: to go bushwalking.

Needing: to focus and stay on top of uni work.

Following: the Animal Walk at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Noticing: the broccoli and pak choi seeds have sprouted!

Knowing: that I probably should have started working on my assignment sooner. Well, lesson learned for the next one (I hope!).

Thinking: about my uni assignment and if it’s good enough.

Buying: nothing, unless you count car rego and insurance.

Getting: too excited that some seeds have sprouted.

Admiring: the beauty of clouds.

Hoping: to get a disctinction grade for my essay (spoiler alert: got a credit instead).

Loving: watching David O’Doherty live!

Giggling: or more like laughing out loud with a friend when watching David O’Doherty.

Planning: to grow the right veges for Autumn/Winter.

Feeling: pretty good and hopeful.

{I started ‘taking stock’ after seeing it over on Meet Me At Mike’s. You can check out the original ‘taking stock’ to find a list or see what others are up to. Let me know if you decide to join in. I’d love to know how your month has been.}
