Taking Stock: February 2017

February has been a bit of a ‘nothing month’ for me. I really wanted to get out and about, but it’s just been way too hot. I’m used to Sydney Summers, but this felt like I was roasting in a giant oven. Just call me crispy pork belly. Anyway, here’s what I managed to get up to this month…

Making: nothing in particular this month.

Cooking: corn and four bean salad with feta cheese and sriracha mayo.

Reading: ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’ by Charles Dickens. I’m struggling to get into it because of how it’s written, but I find I’m usually like that with all Dickens novels I’ve read so far.

Playing:Shape of You‘ by Ed Sheeran, ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever‘ by Zayn and Taylor Swift, and ‘I Feel It Coming’ by The Weekend feat. Daft Punk (which I am still loving). I’m also still making my way through ‘The Awkward Human Survival Guide‘ podcast.

Enjoying: after-work dinner and drinks.

Sorting: out nothing this month.

Wondering: what is wrong with me and this stupid body.

Waiting: for scans and test results… only to be told they found nothing wrong with me…

Deciding: to stop taking my iron supplements to see how that goes.

Wishing: for my stomach pain to go away.

Liking: watching the cucumber plants grow and being able to harvest veggies from the garden.

Disliking: the awful heatwave (I’m melting).

Considering: going for a bushwalk, but re-considering due to the freakishly hot weather.

Watching: an anime called ‘Psycho-Pass’ season one with the guys.

Marvelling: at the super tiny carrots that failed to grow in our garden bed.

Wanting: to buy a new laptop, but not sure I can justify it.

Needing: to implement ways besides using air conditioning to help keep our house cool through the heatwave.

Following: different paths through Auburn Botanic Gardens.

Noticing: beautiful suburban Sydney sunsets.

Knowing: I should try to be a bit more organised.

Thinking: of ways to build a frame to mount onto a wall for our Japanese wisteria plant to climb all over.

Buying: too many snacks. I’ve bought all the Gelato Messina Tim Tams, but haven’t dared to open them yet.

Getting: offered a postgraduate place at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). I still can’t believe it, but I’ve got no time to dwell on that since the semester has started and I need to focus if I’m going to try and achieve good grades.

Admiring: the pretty Rose Garden at Auburn Botanic Gardens.

Hoping: I’ll get through my postgraduate course.

Loving: the feeling of being on Uni campus again (but that could be the delirium talking).

Giggling: with The Bestie as we talk about random stuff and play ‘Divinity: Original Sin’.

Planning: to do activities away from home next month.

Feeling: a bit blah, if that makes any sense.

{I started ‘taking stock’ after seeing it over on Meet Me At Mike’s. You can check out the original ‘taking stock’ to find a list or see what others are up to. Let me know if you decide to join in. I’d love to know how your month has been.}
