I know I’ve been away from this space for a while. I wish I could tell you that I’ve been up to a million and one different things, but the truth is I’ve been choosing to spend my time playing ‘Stardew Valley’ instead of blogging. It doesn’t make me a great blogger, I know, but my farm is doing really well and I’ve been making great connections with the townsfolk. Now if only gardening and making friends in real life was this easy. I have managed to tear myself away from ‘Stardew Valley’ and do things in the real human world. Here’s what I’ve been up to this month…
Making: a little bit of progress with my knitted blanket.
Cooking: a delicious stack of blueberry pancakes with chocolate ganache and mixed berry compote. Yum!
Reading: about ethical fashion, permaculture and reasons to love trees.
Enjoying: or more like savouring, Mum’s homemade soy bean drink.
Sorting: through piles of receipts and odd papers on the computer table and in my wallet. Feels good to de-clutter, even if just a little bit.
Wondering: if hanging out with Super Boy regularly is a good idea.
Waiting: for nothing in particular.
Deciding: to bite the bullet and go out and meet new people.
Wishing: that my hair could always be effortlessly super floofy.
Liking: that it’s always a good time for doughnuts.
Disliking: all the news about the Great Barrier Reef dying due to climate change.
Considering: growing some fruit trees and herbs in the front yard.
Watching: Master Chef Australia with Mum.
Marvelling: at the photography at the World Press Photo Contest 2016 exhibit, currently on at the State Library of NSW. Some of the images are just so powerful.
Wanting: more doughnuts.
Needing: to get fitter and healthier.
Following: the track at Parramatta Park as I attempt to go jogging after work.
Noticing: a sudden change in temperature. I think Autumn has finally decided to show up.
Knowing: that I need to calm my anxieties about meeting new people.
Thinking: about what snacks I could eat.
Buying: a Garmin vivosmart HR. It has taken me a while to get used to wearing this activity tracker, but I’m liking it.
Getting: together with work colleagues for after work dinner and drinks.
Admiring: the view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from Circular Quay. Always.
Hoping: to continue the momentum of exploring Sydney.
Loving: dinner at The Bridge Room.
Giggling: with my Younger Sister over Line as we text each other silly song lyrics.
Planning: to create a permaculture fruit and vegetable garden. I’ve been reading a lot about it online and it sounds great, but I’m not sure (or perhaps I’m hesitant) about where to start.
Feeling: pretty good.
I decided to ‘take stock’ after seeing it over on Meet Me At Mike’s and you can join in too. You can check out the original ‘taking stock’ and find a list or simply see what others are up to. Let me know if you decide to join in. I’d love to see what you got up to.
