At some point this month, I had turned another year older but am still none the wiser. I don’t usually do birthday celebrations (I had to repeatedly tell Mum not to worry about a cake), but Super Boy insisted we have dinner somewhere nice and booked us a table for two at The Bridge Room before I could stop him.
I hadn’t heard of The Bridge Room before so had to do a quick Google search to know what to expect. It looked very fancy, and I’m always worried about going to fancy places and trying to fit in. Luckily, I had nothing to worry about. The place felt relaxed and the staff were friendly and professional. After checking out their menu, Super Boy and I ordered an entrée, a main and a dessert each.
Super Boy and I shared the entrées. My favourite was the raw fish. I should have taken a picture of it underneath the watermelon peel. It was pretty. And delicious.
I can’t remember the sides for the duck Super Boy ordered (it’s different to their online menu). I think there were prunes, grapes and pear. The duck was nice, but I think we both loved the salmon more. I’m not sure what magic they used, but the skin was really crispy and the flesh was amazingly soft and full of flavour. So yummy.
I’m not a big fruit-for-dessert person, but what Super Boy ordered was surprisingly good. The custard apple ice cream tasted great, and the dessert smelled so good. Of course, I couldn’t say no to chocolate and this dessert was perfect.
Overall, the food and service was fantastic. Super Boy and I left feeling really good and satisfied. We’d happily come back to The Bridge Room for another meal.
