Sydney Chinese New Year 2016

Happy belated Chinese/Lunar New Year! I hope you spent it with loved ones, eating plenty of yummy food and sharing lots of laughs. The Parents and I ate a grand feast on new year’s eve and visited our local temple to pay our respects the following day (as per our usual tradition). Last year we also went to check out some of the Chinese New Year festivities around The City, and this year was no different.

We went so we could check out all the Lunar Lanterns, which was a little ambitious since the map showed us they were spread around The City. But, we tried and The Parents and I made a day out of it. I managed to see all of them, but The Parents got tired or bored halfway and went on their own little date without their third-wheeling daughter. Anyway, just thought I’d share some of my favourite snaps from the day.

Lion dancing on stilts/poles. So cool to watch.

There was a Lantern Festival happening at Tumbalong Park.

My favourite Lunar Lanterns on display.

It’s the Year of the Monkey this year. My work colleague keeps saying that it will be a very good year. On what basis, I don’t know. Regardless, wishing you all a happy Chinese New Year. Hope it brings you plenty of health and happiness.
