Taking Stock: July 2015

Oh my, is July over already? I had intended to do a lot more, but I guess I never got around to it. Story of my life. Ah well. At least I managed to squeeze in a hike this month, which was probably the highlight. Otherwise it was just eating, working, more eating, and sleeping.

Making: no progress on my knitted blanket/throw.

Cooking: vegetable minestrone, Thai green curry, and the most amazing falafel roll ever (although that’s more putting bits together than cooking). Still, utterly delicious!

Reading: very little this month.

Playing:Powerful‘ by Major Lazer feat Ellie Goulding and Tarrus Riley, ‘Golden‘ by Travie McCoy feat Sia, and ‘Peanut Butter Jelly‘ by Galantis. Oh my days! ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ is so catchy!

Enjoying: being outside in the sun.

Sorting: through receipts and payslips. Yep, it’s tax return time here in Australia.

Wondering: if I should go to IKEA and buy that sofa and shelving unit, or save my money instead.

Waiting: for my hair to grow longer. It’s been nine months since I got the chop and it’s only grown about two to three inches.

Deciding: that I really ought to clean up Hello HQ.

Wishing: I lived closer to bushwalking trails so it would be easier to access them.

Liking: time spent in the backyard re-potting plants and tidying up.

Disliking: the awkward small-talk with Super Boy.

Considering: taking The Parents on a weekend bushwalking trip.

Watching: nothing at all this month.

Marvelling: at my thriving camellia. I’m surprised it’s still alive. I’m not really good with any kind of flowering plant.

Wanting: a new dress or two.

Needing: to clean poor Chiswick, my precious car.

Wearing: the usual Summer dresses with tights. I’m counting down until Spring time and bare legs, even if they are a little pale.

Following: the Spit Bridge to Manly walking trail.

Noticing: lots of different houses around Sydney. If only I was brave enough to take pictures of all of them, but I don’t want to be caught out as that weird girl taking pictures of other people’s houses…

Knowing: that I haven’t been motivated to get things done or go out and do things this month.

Thinking: about how things ended with Super Boy and why. Not in a sad or longing kind of way. Just reflecting and processing it before I can truly move on.

Buying: not a lot this month, although I’ve done a lot of browsing online. A splurge may be imminent.

Getting: too excited about finding sea shells. Also getting too excited about rock textures.

Admiring: pretty sea shells and the endless blue ocean.

Hoping: I’ll find the motivation to start getting things done around Hello HQ.

Loving: the Spit Bridge to Manly walk. It was a gorgeous day with plenty of amazing views (part one and two are available to check out if you’re interested).

Giggling: with work colleagues.

Planning: on making a start with the front yard.

Feeling: grateful that I live in Sydney, and hopeful that I will make the most out of what it has to offer.

An interesting Taking Stock list – I barely remember what I did yesterday. πŸ™‚

    Re:
Tax – get an accountant, then you get an extra 5 months or so before you have to submit your return. πŸ™‚

Hiking – do the coastal walks but don’t forget the National Parks north and south of Sydney.

Super Boy – move on, being friends after hardly ever works. Trust me on that.

Watching – I just finished all 3 seasons of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch. An absolutely awesome series.

Haha. I’ve got the memory of a goldfish so putting this list together is no easy task.

I’ve already submitted my tax return online, which I’m quite proud of. Mine’s pretty straightforward so there’s no need for an accountant yet.

With hiking, I’ve thought about returning to the Blue Mountains, but all that driving… :/ I’ll have to find a National Park closer to me.

About Super Boy, he’s a nice person to be friends with, but perhaps now is too soon for that.

Also, thanks for show recommendations πŸ™‚ I might need to finally ‘invest’ in that sofa and start binge watching some episodes.

Thanks for the wise words as always, Draco πŸ™‚
