Take a Hike: Lake Parramatta

When people asked me what my hobbies were, I’d freak out because I didn’t think I had any (apart from eating and sleeping). I’d dwell on this sometimes and wonder if I was weirder-than-usual for not having any interests to pursue. But after yesterday’s jaunt around Lake Parramatta, I realised, I like hiking. Or simpler than that, I like walking around and looking at stuff I haven’t seen before. I am a simpleton, after all.

After our previous visit to Lake Parramatta, Super Boy and I decided we’d finally do one of the walking trails yesterday afternoon. We met at Lake Parramatta with our walking shoes and my trusty backpack full of snacks and water, and made our trek around the lake. We stopped every now and then to take photos and sometimes ventured off the path a little to explore.

I swear to you, this guy was posing for the photo.

Super Boy certainly has great eye-sight. He spotted all these creatures and critters on our walk. Not that we knew what they were exactly, but they were certainly interesting to look at.

This was pretty cool. A fallen tree whose branches have become trees themselves.

I’m not sure how long the walk around Lake Parramatta should take, but it took Super Boy and I about 2.5hrs. We may have changed walking trails halfway through. I’m not sure. But it was really fun nonetheless. Towards the end of our walk, we stopped on a large rock by the lake for a break and watched the ducks swim by and the sun start to set. It was a really enjoyable hike and I would highly recommend trying it for youself. It seems lots of people already do, and I can see why.
