Vivid Sydney 2014

Vivid Sydney – a Festival of Light, Music and Ideas. Not much for me to say about it really. It was my first time going and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was already in the City for some shopping and thought I’d stay for dinner and Vivid. I almost left because it started raining halfway during my traipse across town, but I’m glad I stuck around. The rain cleared and I enjoyed walking through a busy city illuminated by lights.

A smart person would have taken a booklet with the map to all the installations dotted around town. I just took a look at the freestanding map I came across, figured out most of them would be around Circular Quay and The Rocks, and just went for a walk hoping to see them all. I didn’t, of course, but liked most of the ones I saw. As I said before, I’m glad I stuck around the City for Vivid and would highly recommend a visit if any of you are able to. It’s on from 6pm daily until the 9th of June so there’s still plenty of time left.

Oh wow. Do you think it’s improved over the years? Also, I hopped over to your blog and checked out your Vivid photos. AH-MAZING!

Improved? Well, the Opera House displays are always interesting but on a different theme. The number of installations are increased in number. The shows at Darling Harbour started last year and are worth a look too if you get a chance – a different one each hour. It’s definitely becoming more popular each year.

Thank you very much for the compliment. šŸ™‚

No worries. Your photos really are amazing šŸ™‚

I’m pretty chuffed Vivid is getting more popular each year and that there are more installations. I was around Darling Harbour but I must have missed the shows since I was only passing by šŸ˜¦ My friends mentioned avoiding going to Vivid because of the crowds now, but I think it’s a good sign. I must put Vivid down in my diary for next year (and maybe plan it a little better).

There’s still time. šŸ™‚ The Darling Harbour show is a light and laser show projected onto a wall of water. Every hour for 10 minutes, and a different show every hour. I believe the 7pm show usually involves fireworks. Cheers.
